Kate Bush has returned from the studio wilderness mere months after releasing "Director's Cut", a compilation of newly mixed and rerecorded editions of previously released songs.“50 Words For Snow”, scheduled to hit the "shops" on November 21, will feature seven brand new tracks set against a background of falling snow. The following is the official tracklisting.

Don't call it a comeback. Don't call it a Christmas album. I can't help but wonder if she went through the trouble of recording over and hour of actual snow falling? That would be crackers!
You know she recorded the sound of falling snow for this album! If she didn't would she still be Kate Bush? After all, if Benge recorded an actual thunderstorm for the title cut of John Foxx + The Math's "Interplay," would you expect less from Ms. Bush?

I think the cover is gorgeous! I also think it's interesting as there is a sound, or lack of, that is specific to snowfall...I can't imagine how that would be captured on CD, but I'm sure Kate won't disappoint. BTW...@Vinny...Keep the posts alive. There are people reading who want your musical feedback!

ReplyDelete@Alexander Christ - I guess we'll know when we hear the album. My guess is the album will have hushed tones and lots of close space. The kind of sound you sense after a snowfall. I'm sure Kate will tell us in some exclusive interview somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comment! I try to update as often as possible, but there is a musical drought during the summer months. This year has been particularly parched. As things pick up for the fall, I'm sure there will be plenty to write about.
